dRofus for MAC

dRofus is a native Windows application and cannot run directly on the Mac OS X. It is possible to run dRofus on a Mac that has Windows installed via Bootcamp, or a virtualization solution e.g. Parallels. Note that third party tools such as Revit, ArchiCAD and Excel also needs to be installed in the Windows environment for the dRofus add-on and Excel exports to work. PDF reports are generated on the dRofus server and displayed through your default internet browser, e.g. Safari.

In summary, here are 3 options for Windows-only-based applications such as dRofus to work seamlessly within Mac machines:

  1. Using Apple’s “Boot Camp” to toggle between macOS and Windows – cannot run both Mac and Windows applications at the same time.
  2. Using “Parallels Desktop” or “VirtualBox” to run both macOS and Windows – can run both Mac and Windows applications at the same time, but will of course affect the resources of your machine.
  3. Using “CrossOver Mac” to run Windows applications without having to install Windows itself – it may or may not be possible to run both Mac and Windows applications at the same time.
